The millennial history of the Jewish community of Kiev, from Kievan Rus to the present days, will be vividly pictured on this tour. The most prosperous merchants of Kyiv Podol had belonged to the Jewish community, the most luxury mansions on Kiev Lypky had been in property of Jewish merchants. Members of the Jewish community made a great impact on the Kiev city development. Jewish merchant David Margolin financed the first sewerage and the first tram line in Kiev. And thanks to Lazar Brodsky donations, there were built the Kiev Polytechnic University, the Institute of the Bacteriology, the Jewish Children Hospital, the Synagogue and the famous Bessarabsky Market. The Jewish Mark Twain - Sholem Aleichem - wrote in Kiev, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir was born here...One of the largest Holocaust events happened in Kiev Baby Yar too... The history of the Ukrainian capital is deeply bound with the Jewish community. There is a lot to see, hear and feel on this tour for those interested in Kiev Jewish history, roots and life.
