The beautiful Tract of Taraktash, name of which is translated from Turkic as a “rocky crest”, gave the name to the popular hiking trail connecting the Uchan-Su Waterfall with the Ai-Petri Yayla via this tract. The crest has developed from a slope of the Ai-Petri Yayla in the result of a rockslide. The fragile and bizarre rock structure resembles a layer-cake, with unexpected openings and holes, known as windows and showing breathtaking sights of Yalta, the coastal line and the sea. The layer-cake stone beauty of Taraktash is surrounded with age-old Crimean pine trees. The air is filled with thick pine tar aroma. May bells and snowdrops are scattered around the trail in the spring, dark red mountain peonies take their turn by the summer and bright euonymus earrings lighten the place by the fall. This picturesque trail is rough and difficult for ascending in some points. Therefore downhill hikes via Taraktash are more popular.
Our trip to Ukraine went very well and we were very pleased with the train and hotel arrangements. Kiev and Lviv are both beautiful cities and well worth visiting. Thank you for your assistance in arranging our visit.
