This day tour to the South-Western corner of the Odessa region will acquaint you with a small town of Vilkovo founded in the Danube Delta in 1746 by Lipovans, followers of the Old Orthodox Rite, who still strictly keep to the ancestors’ traditions nowadays. Vilkovo is quite a peculiar town, hidden in the reeds on the flood land, with the streets – channels and boats instead of cars. Generous Vilkovo gardens produce the sweetest strawberries, unusual watery vineyards enable winemaking.
On one of a few terrestrial streets of Vilkovo we will see the Old Rite Church of Saint Nicholas.
Speaking of Delta (which you will visit too), it was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in1991. It is the second biggest delta in Europe and is the best preserved one on the continent. This “youngest” in Europe land is a benevolent place for developing highly diverse and rare flora and fauna.
You will go to the Ankudinov Island and see the monument of the Zero Kilometer Mark which symbolically flags the mouth of the Danube River on the Ukrainian territory. And though the actual Kilometre Zero belongs to Romania the place has become really popular among tourists.

Just a quick note to say that all the arrangements you made in Kiev and in the Crimea worked without a hitch. Your two drivers were most helpful and made our arrival in a strange country much easier. Thank you for your help – without it I doubt if we would have made the trip.
